Greeting My Friend,
Now that you have either watched our episodes of encouragement -God Says YES! or read my book "When the Doctors Say NO! God Says YES!" you have an interest in finding who Jesus is as your personal Savior and Lord. That can be a little bit confusing in the beginning. Because it may not be something that you grew up with, like I didn't. Please allow me to share with you some basics that will help you in your journey.
Acknowledge that Jesus is real and that He is the Son of God. Realize that when you know what right is and you do the wrong thing, that's called the sin. Sins are what separates us from God. When you know what right is, and you do the wrong thing anyhow, that's a sin.
Imagine you having a child that is so sweet and innocent that he is kind, thoughtful and totally unselfish. The kind of kid you couldn’t be prouder of. He is also the one who thinks of others more than himself.
Then you imagine the neighborhood bully, angry, selfish and always thinking only of himself. He only does what he wants to do and never thinks of anyone else.
One day your son sees that the bully is about to get hit by a car and without even thinking of consequences runs out and pushes him out of the way and in the process is hit and killed by the oncoming car. The bully’s response was “What an idiot! So stupid to get hit by a car! Why did you raise such a brainless kid!!!” That bad kid is us - the innocent one is Jesus. Jesus’s father is God. As a parent we would be incredibally angry and want to punish that child and his parents as much as we can. Instead of being angry at us for our old selfish ways, God the Father, sent Jesus to die on the cross to forgive us for our sins.
Well, God had one son. He is selfless, forgiving, kind and ready to push you out of the way of the punishment you deserve for your sins and die in your place. Jesus died in your place to take your place.
The bible tells us: “Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness for sin,”( Hebrews 9:22).
Scripture also says, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is Jesus Christ His son who died in your place.”(Romans 6:23)
So “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”( 1 John 1:9)
So, it is so simple.
1. Acknowledge that Jesus is real and that He is the Son of God.
2. Confess your sins to Jesus so He can forgive your sins.
3. Accept His forgiveness for your sins and all the puniushment you deserve, He died in your place, so His death replaced yours and your sins are immediately forgiven.”
4. Receive that forgiveness and then forgive yourself.
5. Ask Jesus to fill your heart with love through His Holy Spirit.
6. Make a promise to Jesus that you will now live for God with your whole heart.
7. Find a bible and begin to read it starting with the book of John “God’s love letter to the church.”
8. Find a bible believing church and attend to learn how to live for God and how to please Him.
9. You will find new friends who believe what you now believe, and they will gladly spend time with you, and hang out with you. Usually, you will find, most of the questions you will find can be answered by these friends in what is called “fellowship.”
10. Live your life for Him even when your family or friends may not understand.
